The Russian government has made long waited amendments to the Decree No. 1702 dated December 24, 2001 related to cod and haddock fishing in the Russian Exclusive Economic Zone.

Under the newly changed rules, large deep-sea vessels having unused their quotas and possessing valid licenses are equally entitled to fish cod and haddock in the Russian EEZ alongside with the small-sized fleet, which until today has possessed an exclusive right for catching these species.
