Foreign citizens must obtain a special permit to visit some places in Russia

The Russian government has passed a list of territories, establishments and organizations, for entrance to which foreign citizens must obtain a special permit.

 

The list includes:

  1. Closed administrative-territorial units.
  2. Territories with specially regulated visiting by foreign citizens.
  3. Territories governed by the martial law or in state of emergency.
  4. Territories affected by epidemics or mass spread of infectious and non-infectious diseases.
  5. Closed military units.
  6. Zones of anti-terrorist operations.
  7. Environmental disaster zones.
  8. Frontier zones.
  9. Enterprises and organizations attached to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
  10. Territories of the governmental bodies or other institutions directly related with information that constitutes a state secret.
  11. Other territories, institutions and divisions, prohibited for entrance to the citizens of Russian Federation without a special permit.
