What is awaiting the Russian trawler in the court of Troms??
Posted on Tuesday, September 10, 2002

Court proceedings over the arrested Russian fishing trawler "Mishukov", owned by Murmansk Trawl Fleet-2, were resumed in Troms?.

As readers probably remember, the trawler was detained in February, 2002, by the Norwegian coast guard service while fishing in the Norwegian Economic Zone. The reason for arresting the vessel was the alleged overfishing committed by “Mishukov” in 2001.

So far, the shipowner has not enjoyed much success in the trials. All this time, the vessel has been tied up in the port of Troms?. At the current sitting, the court is to take its final decision over the infringements Murmansk Trawl Fleet-2 is accused of.

By the way, another MTF-2-owned trawler, “Tigunov”, was also arrested by Norwegian authorities in 2001. That time, according to the superior court’s resolution, the shipowner had to pay a fine of 400 000 NOK.
