Amount of breaches of regulations is decreasing

The Murmansk State Sea Inspection (MSSI) has announced the results of its work for the last month.

 

In July, MSSI has controlled 43 Russian and 6 foreign vessels. As a result it was discovered only 2 breaches; both of these were made by Russian ship-owners.

Totally it was made 1120 different inspections in the period from the beginning of this year and up to a present day. It was discovered 73 violations. As a result it was confiscated 4 thousand metric tons of fish from careless ship-owners; to compare with it was confiscated 56 thousand metric tons during the same period of time last year. The total value of confiscated goods accounts to 50 million of rubles. Generally, according to MSSI a total amount of discovered breaches is decreasing.

The Sea Inspection has shared its experience with colleges from neighbour Norway. In July, for example two representatives of Norwegian coastguard have participated in MSSI’s operation onboard vessel “Ural”, while Russian inspectors have been onboard Norwegian coast guard vessel “Troms?”. Both sides have expressed their satisfaction regarding such a co-operation. There are plans to continue the co-operation in august this year.
