Representative office in Russia

100 (the “Charter”). In order to open a representative office or a branch office of a foreign company anywhere in Russia it is required to accredit the office with the authorized state body and insert it into the Register of Representative Offices or into the Register of Branch Offices depending from the case. The State Registration Chamber run both of the said Registers and is located in Moscow.
The State Registration Chamber is authorized to accredit representative offices of foreign companies and according to its information it accredited more than 85% of all foreign representative offices in Russia. If the company applies for accreditation of its representative office with State Registration Chamber it will be inserted into the Register simultaneously with accreditation. Several state bodies are also authorized to accredit foreign representative offices in certain business fields.
Formally the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade is responsible for accreditation of branch offices of foreign companies, however the State Registration Chamber is authorized to perform actions necessary for accreditation of branch offices (Sub-clause 3 Clause 3 of the Charter).
