Capelin fishing for scientific purposes
Posted on Tuesday, November 5, 2002

Having 26 000 tonnes rest to catch this year (10% of the TAC), Russians are starting the autumn capelin fishing season.

The remaining quota share will be exploited in accordance with national research programs. This year, capelin fishing is not restricted to the Russian EEZ only, as it was in 2001.

Among the companies listed for scientific capelin fishing are the Murmansk-based Murman Seafood operating bareboat-charter vessels and Nord Piligrim (vessel “Nekton”) as well as the Far-East fishing company Magnetic.
